SIP Trunking
Toshiba’s Strata® CIX™ family of IP business telephone systems with SIP Trunking capability gives users ISDN-like features over a data connection without the need to buy separate services for voice and data. In addition, using Toshiba’s SIP Trunking capabilities allows enterprises to have increased calling capacity on the same bandwidth. The Strata CIX IP business communication system communicates with a service provider natively over an IP circuit, which can be used to carry voice and data simultaneously. Inside the CIX, the voice is converted to data and sent to the service provider along with the same circuit as the other data packets. This allows one circuit to be used for voice and data, and it also allows for data to get all the bandwidth when no voice is present. Quality of Service (QoS) is managed by the service provider, allowing voice to instantaneously take priority over data. Unlike older solutions where a VoIP Gateway is necessary to connect the IP network to the TDM trunks, the Strata CIX system with the MIPU card and SIP Trunking puts the SIP Trunk support natively into the telecommunications system. The same MIPU interface also supports IP stations, remote users, soft phones, WiFi telephones, and Strata Net multi-system networking. Key product features and benefits include:
Since SIP Trunking capabilities work over businesses’ IP networks, it can potentially eliminate the need and cost for separate services such as T1, ISDN PRI or multiple analog lines. It can also allow businesses to expand their IP reach beyond premises to remote locations as well as remote and mobile users. Compatible with Toshiba’s full line of Strata CIX IP business communication systems, Toshiba’s SIP Trunking capabilities are available on two IP interface units: Toshiba’s MIPU16 and MIPU24 support 16 ports and 24 channels, respectively. Both interface units are compatible with the following carriers:
